
Holiday Sandwich Stars
With all the fun of the Holidays
and baking cookies with the kids,
here is a fun way to fill their tummies with healthy
lunches and keep the focus on nutritious foods
first.
Ingredients:
Whole Grain Bread
Cheese Slices
Cream Cheese (optional)
Mustard (optional)
Cold cuts (optional)
Veggies like Carrots (thinly sliced), Broccoli,
Peas, Corn, Olives, Onions, Peppers and or Celery
Kitchen Sheers (or Cookie Cutters)
Rolling Pin (optional)
Directions:
Warm the oven to 350 degrees.
For the base: take
the rolling pin and flatten the bread (or the
kids can use their palms to flatten it). Then
using the kitchen sheers (or cookie cutters),
cut the flattened bread and cheese slices into
fun star or heart shapes. You can place the cheese
shapes on top of the bread or you can spread the
bread with either cream cheese or mustard. You
can also sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the
bread in place of the sliced cheese.
Toppings: use veggies
and cold cuts to make awesome designs! See photo

Place in the oven on a cookie sheet and bake till
the cheese is melted.
Suggestion: Leftover bread, cheese and
veggies make a wonderful casserole for dinner.
