Valentine's
Day Paper Craft from Holiday Wrappings

While many of us are still
deep into the Holiday season or the on-going
celebrations of the New Year, we'd like
to remind you that there are plenty of beautiful,
future craft-box materials and projects
in all of those holiday wrappings that linger
in your home. While you may be in a hurry
to take a large plastic bag and empty out
the residual wrappings, we ask you to look
at the materials you are disposing of and
consider the possibilities.
In this early Valentine Craft
we are recycling with an abundance of great
materials and having a ton of fun in the
process!
Decorative
Valentine Swags
Materials:
Holiday Wrapping Paper
Cardboard from Soda-Can Boxes and Mailed
Packages
Pre-Trash Bag Ribbons
Glue and Tape
Scissors (only to be used by or under the
supervision of a grown-up)
Paper Plates and Cotton Swabs (to be used
as glue applicators)
Hole Puncher
How
To Put It All Together:
Cut out Heart-shaped
pieces in many different sizes and shapes.
Cut the Holiday
wrapping paper into squares and the crumbled
pieces into tiny confetti pieces that are
useable as textured decoration on the valentines.
Pour a little
glue onto the paper plate and, with the
cotton swab applicators, dab small amounts
onto the cardboard so that you can make
places to put the confetti pieces.
When all of the
Valentines are covered, punch out holes
in the tops of the Valentines and string
them together with the leftover ribbons
to make a beautiful swag!
There are so
many potential resources that we dispose
of in our world today. When we look at all
we have and use our resources creatively,
we are teaching our children to find opportunities
where we might otherwise be wasteful.
It's all
about what you do with what you've got!
