Paper Towel Tube Shakers

Paper Towel Tube Shaker

Materials:

Finished Paper Towel Holders (any size is fine) for each shaker
Construction Paper or Brightly Colored Papers
Craft Paints & Brushes
Tape, Stapler and Glue
Scissors (only to be used with adult supervision)
Hard Beans (uncooked) & Pieces of Pasta

Optional: Cord and Beads for finished decorative purposes *see note,
Hole Punch to attach cord and beads, Aluminum Foil rolled up into little balls as an optional filler. Foil can also be used around the edges of the plates for decorative purposes.

Directions: (read through before starting):

Take paper tubes and fill with beans, pasta or aluminum balls.
Make a top and bottom out of paper to seal in the sound materials. Add extra tape to make sure the beans will not fall out. Decorate tube with paint or cut paper and let it dry for about 15 minutes before the music begins.

*If you are going to use the beads and cord for extra sound and a cool effect: Decorate the shaker BEFORE you fill and close it. Use the hole punch to make a place(s) where you want to add beads and cord. This will be more effective if it is done at the top of the tube shaker. Pull the cord through the hole(s), add beads, and then tie off. Next, close the top and bottom of the tube shaker and make sure you add a little extra tape to keep everything.
