Tree Stick Craft

Wilderness Craft
When kids are free to explore their enviornment and faced with challenges, they usually come up with something really innovative.

Here is an interesting and fun craft for kids. Go outside for a walk and collect natural materials from your neighborhood. When you get back home, lay out some old newspaper and start to play around with the sticks, leaves and the cardboard.

Pictured here is a tree that was made by cutting out cardboard and then gluing the sticks to the board to make a more realistic kind of tree. The birds were made with flour-dough clay. The background was made with an old mailing envelope.

What is important here is to find a way to work with the materials.
This teaches kids to think outside the box and to get creative.

Materials:
Cardboard
Glue and cotton wwabs
Paperplate (for glue)
Sticks from the yard

Any kind of extra materials to decorate the tree:
Aluminum foil,
Clay, Shells, Pinecones, Acorns
Cut-out Foam
Construction Paper...what ever you can think of.
