An Important Note About Inspiration

What inspiration offers to children is the chance to see how different we all are and how each person can take the same materials and make something radically different. What this does is train us to see the possibilities that exist within any situation. When you are doing the Fun PlayDate Crafts, please be aware of the intent of each project. These crafts are not designed to produce exact replicas of the finished products, but rather, they are designed to show the many ways that a particular craft can be done.It is so important to remember that when we work with groups of people doing any kind of activity, we are going to see different approaches to the work. This is wonderful... it allows us to expand our awareness of what we can do for ourselves. Sometimes, just seeing how one person can take on a challenge, and achieve a beautiful result from using the extraordinary resource of their own imagination, is like turning on a light for someone else. Inspiration is a powerful tool!

It's What You Do with What You Have!

The Fun PlayDate Craft Box

This is what you should have on hand at any moment.

Posterboard (this is an amazing and basic supply!)

Scissors (only to be used with adult supervision)

Glue (our favorite is just plain old craft glue... by the way, we like to use it on a paper plate with cotton swabs as glue applicators. We especially find this a very easy way to work when a lot of people are sharing in an activity).

Tape

Spare Paper, Colored Paper, Cardboard, Stickers... anything interesting!

Please Note: We also use what we normally throw away, which is a terrible waste: gift paper and bags, ribbons, yogurt tops (plastic), coffee cans, wrapping paper, paper towel and bathroom tissue tubes... we have resources that are amazing and they just get thrown away. Put some of these items into a box, to have on hand. They are more useful than you can imagine... you'll be amazed at what children can do with them!
