Make
Your Own Shirt and Tie Card Out of Newspaper

Have fun
making dad (or any male) his own card! Check
out what you can do with shirt and tie art
as a theme:
Materials:
Paper - construction
or any solid papers (8.5 x 11)
Newspaper (photographed here is the stock
market section)
Markers
Glue (or could use glue stick of papers)
Scissors (along with adult supervision)
Optional: beads or sequins to glue
on tie for detail
Optional: small flowers from outside
or a silk or dried flower
Optional: 6x9 envelope
Directions:
Glue a half sheet
of solid paper (white used here) to back
of newspaper. Cut out a rectangular shape
(can angle in sides as shown). Cut a slit
(approx. 2" or so) from the top and
fold down to expose the solid color and
create a shirt collar look. Fold an 8.5
x 11 sheet of construciton paper in half
and glue the newspaper shirt to it. Cut
a piece of construction paper in the shape
of a tie and glue to shirt. Cut a square
out of a solid piece of paper and glue to
shirt as the pocket. Use a marker to create
the stitching. Before the glue dries, stick
a flower in the pocket. Decorate the tie
with beads and/orsequins or just color in.
Finally, write a message at the top!
Cards would be
wonderful for Father's Day, Birthdays, or
any other special occasion.
