Paper Plate Rattle Shakers

Rattle Shaker

Materials:

2 Paper Plates (any size is fine) for each rattle shaker
Construction Paper or Brightly Colored Papers
Craft Paints & Brushes
Tape, Stapler and Glue
Scissors (only to be used with adult supervision)
Hard Beans (uncooked) & Pieces of Pasta

Optional: A piece of wood to make a handle (Please note this should be taped and glued to the inside of one plate before you start the process of filling the plates with beans, pasta or aluminum foil.)

*If you are going to use beads and cord, see the instructions in Tube Shakers.

Directions:

Take paper plates and fill with beans, pasta or aluminum balls. Staple, glue and tape the plates closed so the outside of the plates form a container for the beans. If you are going to add pieces to the top, do it carefully to keep all the beans inside while you slip the extra pieces of paper inside and then staple to close the Shaker. Make sure the beans cannot fall out. Decorate with paint or cut paper. Let dry for about 15 minutes before you start to play music.
