Multicultural Holiday Table Decorations

Chanukah, Christmas and Kwaanza Table Decorations

Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanza Decorations

This is a very beautiful decoration and adds a sense of excitement and equality of occasion to each group represented at the holiday table.

Materials:
Download Art Work
Empty Gift Wrap Tubes
Aluminum Foil
Yogurt Cup Tops ( Plastic)
Posterboard
Glue & Tape
Scissors (Only To Be Used With Adult Supervision)
Pennies

For each piece of artwork, download the pattern page. Mount the artwork on a sheet of posterboard that is cut just a little bit bigger than the artwork Lightly glue the back of the artwork and then place on top of the posterboard. Smooth out the artwork on top of the posterboard.

Cut the gift tubes so that you have a piece that is about 6" long.
(You can also use paper towel tubes) Cut strips of posterboard that are 1 1/2" wide x 6 1/4" long, cut as many strips as there are separate decorations. The strip goes at the base of each decoration.

Now cut the aluminum foil in different pieces and cover:
The Tube, The Tree, The Star of David and The Corn design which is The Muhindi for Kwanza. Also cover the strips of posterboard and the Yogurt cup tops.

Now assemble the design. Take the covered tubes and place the covered strips over the base of the tube, tape to the back of the tube. Then Tape these covered tubes to the covered yogurt cup tops. If they seem to need a little extra weight to them, tape some pennies to the inside base of the tube and/or to the bottom of the yogurt cup tops so that the pennies do not show.

Now take the covered tree or covered Star of David and the covered Muhindi design and tape them to individual covered tubes. Then cut the little tab decorations on each design area, cover them in aluminum foil, fold them and tape the folded piece to the front of the design. This step is optional, but adds a three dimensional quality to the design of the decoration.

For the Christmas Tree, cover the pot on the bottom of the design sheet and add to the tree's base.

For the final touch (this next step is optional, but lovely) carefully take small pieces of aluminum foil and extend the design of the ends of the Christmas Tree, the Ends of the Star of David, and the husks on the Muhindi by scrunching extra foil and then turning it at the very ends to create swirls. Now roll a napkin and place in the center of the tube.
