Scary Halloween House

Haunted House Halloween Craft

For families who have loved ones away during Halloween or live in a place apart from Grandparents or friends, here is a thoughtful way to share the spirit of Halloween. Send a Trick or Treat photo box that the kids make.

Materials:
Template Art
A small empty Rice or Macaroni and Cheese box
White Glue & Tape
Scissors & Black Marker
Construction Paper
Scrap cardboard that is bigger than the small boxes (from dry cleaning or cereal boxes)
a Photo of the kids in their costume
Shredded paper, or newspaper
Candy Treats to fill the boxes

Directions:
Take the empty macaroni or rice box and lay it on top of the cardboard. Trace around the box. With the help of an adult, cut around the outline. Then cover that piece of cardboard in black construction paper to make the Scary House. Print out template and use as a guide.Cut out pieces of yellow paper to make window panes and fill them in with black marker Cut out a door and a pumpkin and make a triangle for a roof. You can also add a chimney. Tape and glue all the pieces onto the piece of cardboard that is covered in black paper. Then cover the macaroni or rice box in a colorful piece of constuction paper. Take the photo of the kids in their costume and tape it securely to the top of the box you just covered. Now tape the Scary House art to the seam of the photo box, so that the house part opens like a book. Cut out a ghost shape and tape it from behind the house art so that it looks like the ghost is coming out of the house. Fill the box with Halloween Treats and cover the top with shredded paper or shredded newspaper. You can also have the kids write a Happy Halloween greeting to the person you send it to.
