Combine cinnamon with applesauce. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes with cookie cutters. If the dough is too dry, add a little applesauce. If it is sticky, sprinkle with a little cinnamon. Use a straw to make a hole for hanging. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 200 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. Watch to ensure that edges don’t curl. Cool on wire racks. May use acrylic paints to decorate. Place a string or piece of wool through the hole to hang the ornament. Store in tissue lined box in cool place. Makes about 12 small ornaments. Very fragrant, but definitely NOT EDIBLE (they aren’t toxic – they just don’t taste good). |
