| Have
a Lemonade Stand for Charity
A favorite thing for children
to do is set up a lemonade stand. Your child
(or children) will probably need a companion
or two for this. It is a good way for older
and younger children to work together.
The children will need a wagon
and a table or a box from which to sell
or give away their lemonade. Have them decorate
the table and make a sign. After they have
gathered cups, drinks, and ice, they are
ready to set up a stand. You may suggest
that very young children sell their drinks
for a small amount. Older children can think
more competitively about real (higher) costs.
With them, you might suggest that they pay
a certain percentage of each sale for the
supplies you are providing.
Lemonade stands are a fabulous
way to raise money for various charities
too.
One particular charity that
raises money for pediatric cancer is Alex’s
Lemonade Stand. Alexandra "Alex"
Scott was the 8 year old founder of Alex's
Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research.
Two days before her first birthday she was
diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive
childhood cancer. Alex’s simple front
yard lemonade stand has resulted in millions
of dollars being donated to childhood cancer
research.
Kids can make a difference!
