PlayDates
for Boys
According to recent studies about
the habits of children playing in the United States
today, children's play habits have been greatly
affected by the increase of TV programming, video
and computer games. These activities, although
fun have impacted on the way boys in particular
play. This also effects the amount of exercise
and free-form creative play that are all very
important to children in the long run.
For many parents living very active
lives, running households, attending to their
careers, and overseeing their children's activities,
there is barely a moment left to have to supervise
free play.
Giving kids access to creative projects
that they can be play with, and not have to worry
if the project will get destroyed or not, frees
the kids to explore their imaginations in a new
way. At Fun PlayDates, our projects are designed
to be used by kids and to challenge their skills
not for the purpose of making a perfect project,
but for the kids to develop ways that they would
use the projects when they are playing in the
"zone." One busy mom I know made a bunch
of Aliens printouts and after the aliens were
mounted onto cardboard, colored and cutout, the
kids used them to make an Alien Universe outside
in some bushes.
